Positive Steps Intervention

We have several small projects usually operating as an alternative to secure accommodation. This provision is intended for one or two young people who require intensive individual support and are unable to cope with group living.

Positive steps intervention offers mobile, outdoor activity based services for young people in crisis. We focus on individual needs and breaking cycles of behaviour, with the flexibility to be able to progress to accommodation in a two bed home once a comprehensive assessment has been completed.

Where possible, children are placed and supported in mainstream education or other Local Authority provision. In our small units, where there is no alternative, education can be provided. Ideally, this is short-term and directed towards a return to mainstream. This educational support can be individual or group based and is co-ordinated by our approved residential special school in line with the joint DfES/DOH Guidance, "The Education of Young People in Care".

Supported Living Accommodation

We have various properties which are available for young people aged 15+, to support them in their pursuit of independent living.

We have a range of staffing support options available, based on individual needs, such as an on-site warden or another experienced member of staff. We also provide support to help young people obtain their own tenancy when they reach 18.

Rural Farm Settings

We have several provisions located on rural farms in Lancashire and Staffordshire. The purpose of these homes is to provide a warm, friendly, safe and supportive environment to young people white ‘high-end’ needs such as absconding, being at risk of CSE, self-harm and gang related issues. We work with outside agencies such as YOS and CAHMS and have on-site education and therapeutic provisions.

The Roaches School is a specialist residential school rated outstanding by Ofsted. The School, as a whole, accommodates up to 58 pupils, including day pupils, between the ages of 7-16 on a long or short term basis in a variety of accommodation, both on and off site. Its specialism is caring for and educating children and young people who have severe emotional and/or behavioral difficulties as well as a history of failed placements.

All children at the school undergo a system of educational assessment and regular review resulting in Individual Education Plans geared to the specific needs of each child.
